How to properly care for your new tattoo

Tattoo Aftercare

Die richtige Pflege für dein neues Tattoo

A fresh tattoo is like a small, open wound, and the correct care is crucially important for the healing process and the later appearance of your body art. Please follow these instructions during the first few weeks:

CARE & MOISTURIZING

Trage eine sehr dünne Schicht Pflegecreme auf so, als hättest du fast nichts aufgetragen. Zu viel Creme lässt die Haut nicht richtig atmen, weicht sie auf und kann die Poren verstopfen. Das kann zu einem verzögerten Heilungsprozess oder sogar kleinen Entzündungen führen. Eine dünne Schicht hingegen versorgt dein Tattoo optimal mit Feuchtigkeit, ohne die Haut zu ersticken.

  1. I recommend: Pegasus Tattoo Cream (available in every pharmacy)
  2. Please no Bepanthen! This ointment is too greasy and not suitable for fresh tattoos.

Care Interval:

  • Apply cream in the morning and evening
  • If needed (e.g., when the tattoo feels tight), also at noon/midday
CLEANING

Wash your tattoo at home with clear, lukewarm water, without soap or shower gel. Afterward, gently pat the skin dry with Zewa (paper towel) or a lint-free cloth. Please do not use a normal hand towel. Lint and bacteria can interfere with healing.

NIGHT & HYGIENE

Do not wear foil (plastic wrap) overnight! Sweat, moisture, and bacteria accumulate under the foil and increase the risk of infection

If you have pets: Pay close attention to ensure no pet hair comes into contact with the tattoo.
If your bed is full of hair $\rightarrow$ change the sheets before you go to sleep.

HEALING PROCESS

During the first few days, the tattoo may weep slightly. This is normal. After a few days, the skin begins to peel slightly, similar to sunburn. Please do not scratch or pick at the flaky skin! This can pull out the color and impair the result.

After about 2-3 weeks, the top layer of skin has healed, but complete regeneration usually takes 6 to 6 weeks.
